yeah go coast guard. hopefully i will be stationed at station port angeles next that would be awesome, i guess they go on calls like that all the time.
LOL god i had my sound up all the way
What do you say. Sailing again next weekend?
semper paratus for life
Nothing like our coast guard! Now that is something to be proud of.
Most important gear on any vessel is the anchors. Ground tackle is a must.
you can buff that out...good as new
man is that scary or wat
Don't you just LOVE the Coast Guard? I wonder if you can rub that out with some gel coat cleaner?
My husband said I shouldn't be watching this. We have a Hunter 38 will be sailing to the San Jauns.
Well done to the coastguard and somthing like that can happen to anyone even the most experienced among us.Yes its true that the skipper could have prevented this but s$#t happens and if we all learnt somthing from mistakes of both ourselves and others we can be a lot sharper. I think that the boat and crew were very lucky well done posting this video.. Thanks Derek
Possibly engine failure and then not enough time to put sails up. The anchor would have been of little use as those cliffs look pretty steep-to and so it would not have bitten until very close to shore, if at all.
lol..great video and i salute all of you Coast Guard men and women but that sail boat cpatain was terrible
looks like they tried to sail under the Deception Pass Bridge. I lived on Whidbey for a long time. That route is not made for sail boats, the current is too strong, that is probably why they got stuck on the rocks. Its nice to see that they didnt get hurt and the boat was intact.
They probably dont forget to bring a spare anchor with them next time!
omg i wud of wel ben sick lol and im not even sea sick lol
its a Pearson 365 Ketch!
and the weaTHER is not that harsh i wondr how they got there in the first place
At the beginning of the video the anchor can be seen full of sea weed. CQR/plow anchor. Anchor fouled w/weed when at lunch/napping or was deployed to stop drift. No ones fault but the operator/capt. It does have sails.
What a shame...such is the danger of a lee shore.
Thank goodness for the coasguard volunteers. Everyone needs a plan 'b' sometimes. Not sure why the yacht crew didn't just drop an anchor when they got in to trouble though.
How did they get into this situation....did the boat survive? Thanks for posting, giving me a fine example of what not to do.
poor skipper!
Great job guys! Thanks!
They should use a heaving line
